ZAMBOANGA CITY – Some 83 mentee-entrepreneurs are set to graduate next month from the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Kapatid Mentor Me - Money and Market Encounter (KMME-MME) training-seminar.

DTI 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) Director Ceferino Rubio said Saturday the would-be graduates composed two batches of mentees from this city, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

Rubio said they would be the first to graduate for this year's KMME-MME, which started the online training course with two modules each week from July 21 until August 28.

He said the online training was made possible through the convergence of the DTI and the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) Go Negosyo.

“This KMME-MME online is one of the many interventions that DTI, through PCE Go Negosyo, is giving to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in this time of Covid-19 pandemic,” Rubio said.

He said the training covered 10 modules that aim to scale up the various aspects of the business operations of the chosen MSMEs.
The modules touched on Entrepreneurial Mindsetting and Values Formation; Marketing; Product Development; Business Model Canvas; Operations Management; Supply and Value Chain; Human Resource Management; Financial Accounting and Financial Management; and Taxation and Business Law.

Rubio said training participants could complete the course after they finish all the modules and present their Business Improvement Plan to an expanded panel of evaluators composed of representatives of banks, online market platforms, and other business support organizations.

Meanwhile, he said the DTI has assisted 568 MSMEs in the region through the KMME since 2016.

KMME graduates are also being assisted through other DTI programs and projects, among them the Livelihood Seeding Program - Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay, OTOP Next Gen, Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa, and Shared Service Facility. (PNA)
