BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Outside of the hospitals in this province seemed normal but an online bed occupancy monitoring system on Wednesday showed that many of these facilities were already or almost filled with patients.
The state-owned Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) main in this city, an exclusive hospital for patients infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), has already reached 91.2 percent bed occupancy rate with only 13 slots of the intensive care unit (ICU) available.
The BGHMC extension that does not cater to Covid-19 cases is now 100 percent occupied.
The government-run Mariveles District Hospital and Mariveles Mental Wellness General Hospital both registered full capacity.
Mariveles is considered the epicenter of Covid-19 in the province and the only town under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) with heightened restrictions.
Two other government hospitals, Bagac Community Hospital and JC Payumo District Hospital in Dinalupihan town are now at 57.1 percent and 73.9 percent occupancy, respectively.
Private hospitals in this city have varying occupancy rates.
Bataan Doctors Medical Center has a 56 percent bed occupancy rate, St. Joseph Hospital at 89.2 percent, Women’s Hospital at 52 percent, Centro Medico at 85.2 percent and ICMC at 93.6 percent.
Other private hospitals, namely Bataan Peninsula Hospital in Dinalupihan and Maheseco in Mariveles have already reached 100 percent and 76.9 percent bed occupancy rates, respectively.
The latest report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed there are 16,385 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 34 Delta variant and 2,611 active cases. There are also 585 deaths and 13,189 recoveries. (PNA)
