MANILA – The BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), one of the Philippine Navy (PN)'s two guided missile frigates, will be participating in the sixth iteration of "DAGIT PA" which will take place from Nov. 7 to 18 at the Western Command (Wescom) joint operations area.

"DAGIT PA" stands for "Dagat, Langit at Lupa" which entails the participation of the three major services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) -- the Navy, Air Force and Army as employed in joint operations.

There will be four major events that will highlight the exercise, namely: tabletop exercise (TTX), staff exercise (STAFFEX), cyber defense exercise (CYDEX), and field training exercises (FTX) in various locations in Palawan.

The BRP Antonio Luna arrived at Puerto Princesa, Palawan last Oct. 30.

"Western Command welcomes FF-151 back to Palawan. Her presence in our joint operations area (speaks) of the growing capability of a modern navy which can be better enhanced through joint exercises with our Air Force and Army comrades," Wescom chief Vice Admiral Alberto B. Carlos earlier said.

The BRP Antonio Luna will serve as a platform during the joint exercise.

The ship is capable of conducting anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare and anti-air warfare.

"FF-151 will contribute a lot to the objectives of the joint exercise especially in achieving interoperability and a common operational picture," Carlos added. (PNA)
