ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three suspects were arrested while more than PHP1 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in this city over the weekend, police officials said Monday.
Police identified the arrested persons as Alhammad Ahadani, 41, an electrician; Jessie Tumacmol Jr. 18; and Abdurahim Matli, 36.
Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, said Ahadani and Tumacmol were arrested around 1:13 a.m. Sunday at a pension house in Barangay Canelar.
They were arrested after allegedly handing over a pack of suspected shabu and received a bundle of money as the supposed payment from an undercover policeman.
“It took some time before the transaction was realized,” Alinsañgan said.
Seized from the two suspects were some 150 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP1,020,000, a mobile phone, sling bag, and PHP129,000 worth of counterfeit bills used as bait topped with one genuine PHP1,000 as marked money.
Meanwhile, Maj. Albin Cabayacruz, city police station 5 chief, said Matli was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Zone 7, Barangay Boalan.
Recovered from Matli’s possession were 2.5 grams of suspected shabu packed in 26 plastic sachets worth PHP17,000; a coin purse and PHP200 marked money.
All arrested suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are prepared against them. (PNA)
