MANILA – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) offers different benefits for its female members not only during Women’s month but also year-round.

In a televised public briefing, Rey Baleña, PhilHealth Corporate Affairs Group vice president and concurrent Corporate Communication Department senior manager, said women are entitled not only to maternity care package but also to cervical cancer, gynecological disorders, colorectal cancer, and rectum cancer packages.

He noted the maternity care package covers essential health services during the antenatal period, support during labor, actual normal delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

“So, kung itong pakete na ito ay ia-avail ng ating mga kababaihan sa ospital ay 6,500 pesos ang atin pong ibinabayad pero kung sila ay manganganak sa mga infirmaries, dispensaries, mga birthing rooms at maternity care clinics, ang atin pong ibinabayad diyan ay (if women avail of the package in hospitals, we pay 6,500 and if they will give birth in infirmaries, dispensaries, birthing rooms, and maternity care clinics, we pay) 8,000 pesos,” he said.

As for the cervical cancer package, he said the patient may need primary surgery, pelvic cobalt radiation, or high-dose brachytherapy where PhilHealth provides PHP175,000.

For gynecological disorders, PhilHealth pays PHP23,300 for ovarian cystectomy; PHP33,300 vaginal hysterectomy; PHP11,000 for raspa; and PHP22,000 for mastectomy.

“Para po sa colorectal cancer mayroon po tayong Z benefit package para diyan at ang una nating pakete diyan ay nagkakahalaga ng 150,000 pesos para po iyan sa Stage 1 to 2 low risk at para naman po sa may Stage 2 to 3 high risk ay 300,000 pesos (For the colorectal cancer, we have the Z package, the first package is 150,000 pesos for Stage 1 to 2 low risk and 300,000 pesos for Stages 2 to 3 high risk),” Baleña said.

“Para naman sa rectum cancer, mayroon din tayong Z benefits para diyan at nagkakahalaga po iyan ng 150,000 hanggang 400,000 pesos para po sa (For rectum cancer, we also have Z benefits for that which cost 150,000 to 400,000 pesos for) Stages 1 to 3 rectum cancer”.

He reminded members to go to PhilHealth-accredited facilities to avail of the packages and to keep their contributions and profiles updated to avoid problems in using their benefits. (PNA)
