MANILA – Fiber broadband provider Converge on Tuesday started rolling out free connectivity at the airports, starting at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4.

The other NAIA terminals, as well as airports in Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, Laoag, Pagadian, Tacloban and Zamboanga will also benefit from up to 1 Gbps internet.

"The initiative aligns with the MIAA's (Manila International Airport Authority's) vision of a modern transportation system," said MIAA officer in charge Bryan Co.

He added that the free connectivity will create a platform for the implementation of digital services.

Transportation Undersecretary Bobby Lim who was at the rollout commended Converge for its dedication in providing connectivity solutions.

Through Converge's initiative, travelers will get a 120-minute internet access, for free.

Founder Dennis Uy, in a statement, said that since connectivity is among the complaints of travelers in Philippine airports, the firm wants to improve the country's image by providing fast connection.

The free connectivity can be used to check in digitally, or to browse the internet while waiting for the flights, he said. (PNA)
