LAOAG CITY – Local authorities said on Wednesday they have identified the possible crash site of a missing Cessna plane within the border of Salvacion, Luna, and San Mariano in Pudtol in Apayao province.

In a report posted on the official Facebook page of the Provincial Government of Apayao, a medical and rescue team on board a Philippine Air Force Black Hawk flew to the possible crash site of the Cessna-152 aircraft but the chopper carrying them has yet to spot an area to land.

As of posting time, rescuers and the medical team are trying to get near the area.

JC Marquez, Apayao government information officer, said the plane was carrying Capt. Edzel John Lumbao Tabuzo and student pilot Anshum Rajkumar Konde.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed this as the Cessna-152 with call sign RP-C8598 went missing on August 1 while on its way to Tuguegarao City Airport in Cagayan from the Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte.

The last signal transmission from the aircraft was received 35 nautical miles northwest of Alcala, Cagayan, it noted.

The CAAP said it received an INCERFA message, which refers to uncertainty about the safety of an aircraft and its passengers, at 2:37 p.m. from the Tuguegarao flight service station. (PNA)
