MANILA – The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is inviting basketball enthusiasts nationwide to apply for the FIBA Foundation’s “Propose a Project” program.

Believing “that basketball can serve as a catalyst to empower, educate, and inspire youth through the implementation of Basketball For Good projects all over the world,” FIBA aims to support projects aligned with this vision and mission leading to the launch of the Propose a Project platform.

A total of 42 projects from 35 countries were achieved last year and the program will accept applications until March 31, 2024.

The program categories are Basketball for Health and Wellbeing, for Equality and Inclusion, for Culture and Education, for Peace and Conflict Resolution, or for Climate and Environment.

"We, at the SBP, would like to encourage all basketball stakeholders in the Philippines to apply for the grant,” Executive Director Erika Dy said in a statement on Monday.

“We are aware that many Filipinos are already using basketball for good and we would like them to tap into FIBA Foundation’s resources to push their projects forward and maximize the impact in their respective communities," she added.

Selected projects will get financial, equipment, and/or mentoring support and join the wider Basketball For Good community with additional opportunities for exchange, mentoring, and support.

Interested parties may contact SBP (email: [email protected]) to inquire about the guidelines and to get a letter of support from the federation, which is a requirement for the application. (PNA)
