Mimaropa cops nab 2 wanted persons

MANILA – Two most wanted persons (MWPs) in Region 4B (Mimaropa) were arrested in separate operations on Sunday, the Police Regional Office 4B has said.

In a statement on Monday, PRO 4B director Brig. Gen. Roger Quesada said 30-year-old alias "Randel", tagged as the ninth most wanted person (MWP)in Oriental Mindoro, was arrested in Barangay Sagana, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro.

"Randel" has a standing arrest warrant for rape issued by a court in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro with no bail recommended.

Also on Sunday, PRO 4B personnel apprehended 28-year-old alias “Marvin” in Sitio Core, Barangay Poblacion, San Andres, Romblon for murder charges.

Quesada said the arrested suspects would be turned over to issuing courts for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, members of the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a retired police officer for various crimes in Tarlac City.

In a separate statement, Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) chief Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said retired Senior M/Sgt. Rodrigo Catacutan Jr., 47, was arrested on April 4 in an operation in Barangay Sepong, Calzada, Tarlac City.

Catacutan is wanted for three counts of rape and five counts of acts of lasciviousness, with a recommended bail of PHP200,000 for each case.

The arrest warrants stemmed from the complaint filed on April 10, 2023 by a minor victim with the guidance of her mother.

The accused is currently detained at Tarlac City Police Station before the return of the warrant to the issuing court. (PNA)
