MANILA – A security screening officer has returned a gold ring left by a passenger at the Butuan Airport early this week, the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) said Friday.

OTS officer in charge, Assistant Secretary Jose Briones Jr. commended Gina Edera who found the ring under the inspection table at the final security screening checkpoint of the airport.

“[Edera] immediately informed Shift-In-Charge Novejig Batoon, who immediately coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority Security and Intelligence Service to identify the owner of the item,” Briones said.

The passenger later went back to the security screening checkpoint to claim the ring after presenting identification.

Briones reminded security screening officers of the importance of integrity and honesty by returning left-behind items to the owners or by placing them in the lost and found section.

In March, the OTS announced the hiring of an additional 300 SSOs to be stationed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to augment security screening at the international gateway.

Over 100 OTS personnel were also recently promoted to fill in the positions of those who retired, resigned, and whose contracts were not renewed. (PNA)
