ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) will deploy 319 police officers in select areas in the region under the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) program.

The police officers from the mobile forces completed the 12-day stringent RPSB training program that culminated on April 29.

“They will be staying in barangays so directly they can help with the concerns of the community and directly gather information in terms of peace and order and security,” PRO 6 spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnel Solis said in an interview on Thursday.

The police regional office has started identifying areas for deployment that will include geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), insurgency-cleared areas, and even urban areas where they are needed.

Their presence in insurgency-cleared areas will ensure there is no resurgence of the insurgency problem.  They will work in tandem with the Philippine Army or be assigned in areas where there is no military personnel.

“Our police are on the ground staying in barangay and directly engaging with the community. Any concerns like crimes can be directly reported to them for their immediate action. Their presence is already a deterrent against criminalities,” he added.

Introduced in 2011 and expanded in 2019, the RPSB aims to enhance police-community relations and foster the culture of “bayanihan.”

It embodies collaborative partnership and grassroots involvement to address local security and safety concerns effectively and efficiently. (PNA)
