DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported the seizure of almost a kilogram of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP6.6 million via buy-busts from April 29 to May 5.

Capt. Hazel Tuazon, DCPO spokesperson, said the bulk of the confiscated substance came from their May 3 operation, when San Pedro police officers seized an 807-gram bag of shabu, amounting to PHP5.5 million.

"We have 54 cases filed against these violators," Tuazon said in a radio interview on Tuesday.

She said the series of operations resulted in the arrest of 40 people for illegal drug use and confiscation of 977.2 grams of shabu.

Since January, DCPO has launched 505 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 629 persons.

On wanted personalities, Tuazon said at least 670 offenders have been arrested since the start of this year.

"We attributed the accomplishments to law enforcers' who doubled their efforts and from the support of the communities. We thank them for actively supporting our police force in sharing information, which significantly impacts our campaign against illegal drugs," she said.

Col. Richard Bad-ang, DCPO chief, said peace and order remains the top priority, and that "one of the key factors contributing to these accomplishments is the active support and cooperation of the community." (PNA)
