MANILA – Speaker Martin Romualdez said the Filipino people would soon see a “more dynamic, more proactive government” with the signing of the “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” covenant between Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who is PFP chairman, is the guest of honor and principal speaker during the signing of the alliance accord.

“As we sign this agreement today, we do so with the full weight of our responsibility in mind. This document is not merely symbolic - it is a covenant with our citizens, a promise of unwavering dedication and relentless effort to unite and uplift our beloved country,” Romualdez, who is Lakas-CMD president, told members of the two political parties during the alliance signing held at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City on Wednesday.

“In the upcoming years, through the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, you will witness a government that is more dynamic, more proactive, and more responsive to the needs of its people. This alliance will demonstrate how collaboration and genuine partnership can translate into real, impactful change,” he added.

Romualdez said the Lakas-CMD-PFP alliance is more than just a political union, as it represents a “collective commitment” to the prosperity and welfare of every Filipino and heralds a new era of governance “founded on integrity, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.”

“Our agenda is clear. We are here to enhance the quality of life for every Filipino. We commit to ensuring that the fruits of economic growth are distributed equitably, reaching every province and every community. We pledge to uphold the highest standards of governance, making every decision and action transparent and accountable to the people we serve,” he said.

The House leader pointed out that alliance aligns its initiatives with the strategic direction of President Marcos, striving to implement policies that boost the economy, improve infrastructure, and elevate health and educational systems.

“We are dedicated to sustainable development that addresses both present and future needs, securing a prosperous legacy for the generations that will follow,” he stressed.

The union of the two political parties forms the most powerful political force in the country. It includes two prominent senators, a significant majority of congressmen, numerous provincial governors, city and municipal mayors, as well as provincial board members, and city and municipal councilors from across the nation.

Romualdez said this “extensive network of committed public servants at every level” ensures that the vision for a Bagong Pilipinas is not just a top-down directive but a nationwide movement, permeating every corner of the archipelago.

“From the bustling streets of our cities to the quiet pathways of our barangays, members of this alliance are unified in their mission to spread and implement the vision of a new Philippines. We are driven by the goal of creating a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to prosper, where governance is participatory, and where progress is felt by all,” he said.

He told alliance members that there are big challenges that lie ahead “but together, we can turn these challenges into catalysts for growth and transformation.”

“Let us join hands and hearts, uniting our efforts in building a better future for the Philippines. Together, we will realize the dream of a Bagong Pilipinas, not just in our hopes but in our everyday realities,” he said.

In a press conference, Deputy Speaker and Quezon Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez said the Lakas-PFP alliance would facilitate effective policy-making and implementation.

Suarez said the alliance was formed based on shared values, interests, and ideologies, adding that the strategic partnership would ensure policy productivity.

"Parehas po kaming sumusuporta sa administrasyon ng ating Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos (We both support the administration of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos). We need to be aligned. We need to be in tuned with the policy directives, programs, projects. And forming such as an alliance will strengthen our position so we could make sure that proper legislation and program are implemented in the country," he said.

Suarez said the alliance pact is part of the preparation for the May 2025 elections, as he expressed hope for more unions of political parties.

“Ito po ay simula pa lamang ng inaasahan ko na mas marami pa pong pagsasama-sama ng iba’t-ibang partido dito po sa ating bansa (This is only the beginning of many such alliances to be formed by various political parties in the country)," Suarez said.

Meanwhile, Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. said the Lakas-CMD-PFP alliance is a testament that President Marcos is serious in uniting Filipinos towards achieving progress and development.

“I am really thrilled. Sa pagpapatibay ng alyansa na ito, higit pang bibilis ang pagkamit ng mga adhikain ng administrasyong ito tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas (the forging of this alliance will hasten the fulfilment of the aspirations of this administration towards the New Philippines),” the Lakas-CMD chairperson said, as he thanked Marcos for making the alliance possible.

The senator said the alliance is also "a great stride" towards assuring the success of the administration in having candidates supportive of its programs get elected in the midterm elections next year.

“The goal is manalo ang mga aspirants from the national level down to the local level na susuporta at tutulong sa pagpapatuloy ng mga magagandang plano at programa ng ating Presidente (The goal is to secure the victory of aspirants from the national level down to the local level who will support and help continue the good plans and programs of our President),” Revilla said.
