MinProBa champ suffers first defeat

DAVAO CITY – Previously unbeaten MinProBA bantamweight champion Vincent “Asero” Astrolabio of MP Davao Gym finally suffered his first defeat after losing to John Mark “Iceman” Apolinario of Sanman Boxing Gym on Sunday at the Robinsons Place in Gen. Santos City.

Apolinario, a former WBO Oriental super flyweight champion from Maasim, Sarangani Province, landed more telling blows against Astrolabio, who was already tired in the final three rounds of their scheduled ten rounder.

The 20-year-old Astrolabio only kept on clinching to avoid Apolinario’s left-right combinations.

It was only the first loss after 10 straight wins by Astrolabio while the 27-year old Apolinario improved his record to 19 wins with 4 knockouts against 11 losses and 3 draws.

Meanwhile, reigning MinProBA flyweight champion Genesis ‘Cobra’ Libranza scored a majority decision over Michael Enqriquez in their 10-rounder bout.

Judges Mario de Ramos and Satur Ponpon both scored it identical 98-92 for Libranza while judge Brembot Dulalas saw it a draw at 95-all.

It was the main event of the “Hard Hitters” boxing card by the MP Promotions held in celebration of the birthday of Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

On the other hand, Rene Mark Cuarto defeated Bonjun Loperez by unanimous decision; Orlie Silvestre defeated Ronnie Tanallon by TKO in 2:55 of 1st round; Aries Buenavides defeated Jetli Purisima by 7th round TKO; Joel Lino defeated Marlou Sandoval by TKO 5th round; Vince Paras defeated Aldren Moreno by 5th round TKO; Mervin Lulu defeated Paolo Perono by TKO in rest period of 2nd round; Jay-ar Inson defeated Hagibis Quinones by TKO in 1:29 of 2nd round; Vincent Dayaganon defeated Jovany Tagusi by split decision; Matthew Arcillas defeated Dingdong Quinones by TKO in 1:53 of 1st round; Jhunie Delgado defeated Jessie James Boyles by TKO in 2:17 of 1st round; Lienard Sarcon defeated Jerry Tabago by KO in 1st round; Ruben Dadivas defeated John Paul Ibones by TKO in 1:15 of 1st round; and, Dave Barlas defeatedRoger Salaton by unanimous decision.
