Cimatu safe after road mishap; victims brought to hospital

SAN JOSE de BUENAVISTA, Antique – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu was declared safe after an accident on board his Mitsubishi Outlander vehicle in Barangay Bitadton Sur, Culasi town around 10:15 a.m. Monday. 

An Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) report said the official’s vehicle, driven by Rizalino Ablang, accidentally bumped a Honda 100 motorcycle with plate number 4876FL while  traversing the road in Sitio Bringyaw of the said village.

The passengers of the motorcycle - namely Fidel J. Capillo Jr., 38 years old, his wife Maribel, 35 and their nephew John Dave Fernando, three years old, all of Barangay Pitak, Tibiao, Antique – were immediately brought to the Culasi District Hospital after the accident.

“The victims are still being admitted at the hospital for medical observation,” SPO3 Andres A. Caduada, investigator on the case, told the Philippine News Agency in a phone interview.

Sec. Cimatu, who is married to an Antiqueña, was on his way to Kalibo from Antique when the accident happened.  (PNA)
