Toyogon to stake featherweight title vs. Sagawa in May

DAVAO CITY – Al ‘Rock’ Toyogon of the Philippines will stake his World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia super featherweight title against Ryo Sagawa of Japan on May 4 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

The 21-year-old Toyogon (10W-2L-1D, 6KO) last defended his title against Ryusei Ishii of Japan via a unanimous decision win in January in Paranaque.

He won the vacant WBC ABC Silver super featherweight title with a TKO in the sixth round against Nathan Bolcio on Sept. 20, 2018 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.

The 25-year-old Sagawa (6W-1L-0D, 4KO) has piled up six straight wins against Shingo Kawamura via a TKO in the 8th round on Dec. 13, 2018 bout.

Sagawa suffered his only loss to Retsu Kosaka via a TKO in the 2nd round on May 16, 2017. (PNA)
