Undefeated Quibido to face Cuerdo in La Union Oct. 26

DAVAO CITY -- Undefeated Denmark 'Tornado' Quibido of Misamis Oriental will face Philip Luis 'Destroyer' Cuerdo of Mandaluyong City on Oct. 26 in La Union.

Last May 23, the 23-year-old Quibido won by a unanimous decision over Rey Tagulaylay of Agusan del Norte in Quezon City.

Quibido settled a technical draw with Joel Taduiran of Albay for vacant Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight title last Dec. 18 in Pangasinan.

Quibido has nine wins with five knockouts against one draw while Cuerdo has 11 wins with four knockouts against seven losses and one draw.

The 24-year-old Cuerdo lost by a 1st round knockout to undefeated Brock Jarvis of Australia last March 1 in Australia. He also lost by a 1st round knockout to undefeated Junto Nakatani of Japan last June 1 in Korakuen Hall.

Meanwhile, Michael 'Hot and Spicy' Dasmarinas of Camarines Sur will fight Artid Bamrungauea of Thailand in the bantamweight division.

The promoters are Senator Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions and Juan Morris of Hardstone Boxing Promotion. (PNA)
