COTABATO CITY – Police seized assorted high powered firearms during a raid on a house in South Upi, Maguindanao on Monday.
Maj. Esmael Madin, chief of the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-BARMM), identified the target of the operation as Roderick Platon, of Barangay Looy in South Upi town.
The search warrant against Platon was issued by Judge Kasan K. Abdulrakman of Regional Trial Court Branch 27 in Maguindanao against Platon for illegal possession of firearms.
Madin said joint police and military operatives conducted the operation at about 6 p.m. in Platon’s home in Barangay Looy.
However, Platon was not in his home when the police arrived to implement “Oplan Paglalansag Omega.”
“He managed to escape before we arrived,” Madin said in a statement.
Police found in Platon’s home a .22-caliber rifle with scope; two M-14 rifles; a Thompson submachine gun; an M-79 grenade launcher; and various ammunition, among others.
Platon remains at large as of posting time. (PNA)
