BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported on Wednesday that 23 new patients tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abruptly increasing the number of cases in the province.

PHO chief Dr. Rosanna Buccahan said only one, a 42-year-old male overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Abucay town, was added to the number of recoveries.

Buccahan said the number of confirmed cases rose to 212 while those who recovered were 155. The number of deaths, on the other hand, remained at 10.

With the 23 newly-added on the list, she said there are now 47 active Covid-19 cases in the province.

Buccahan said of the 4,405 individuals who have undertaken laboratory tests for Covid-19, 212 were confirmed positive, 4,028 were tested negative and 165 are still waiting for the results.

Bataan is one of the provinces in the region placed under a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until July 15.

Governor Albert Garcia reminded his constituents to always stay home and strictly observe the health protocols in response to the fight against the dreaded virus.

"Patuloy pong naming pinaaalalahanan ang lahat na manatili sa inyong tahanan kung wala namang mahalagang pupuntahan at kung lalabas man ay umiwas sa mga mataong lugar, palaging magsuot ng face mask, mag-observe ng social distancing at palaging maghugas ng kamay. Maraming salamat po sa inyong pang-unawa at patuloy na pakikiisa (We are continuously reminding all to stay home if there is nothing important to do outside and if you are going out, avoid crowded places, always wear a face mask, observe social distancing and always wash your hands. Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation),” Garcia said. (PNA)
