BUTUAN CITY--The Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO13) will deploy at least 3,478 law enforcers to ensure the public's safety and security during the Yuletide season.

In a statement on Wednesday, PRO-13 said the augmentation force will be manning the police assistance desks that would be established in the different churches, malls, terminals, and other major places of public convergence.

Police personnel from Explosive and Ordnance Disposal (EOD), together with K9 units, will also be assigned to areas in the region where a heavy influx of people is expected.

PRO-13 has directed all unit commanders to "sustain the level of alertness and ensure that the enhanced police operations" are being carried out regionwide.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., PRO-13 director, said the police force would also strengthen its focused law enforcement operations and ensure observance of the minimum health standards and protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) and the local government units across the region.

“Everything is set to ensure safer and more peaceful observance of the Yuletide season. The police force is on full alert to provide public safety services and enforce health and safety protocols amid the Covid-19 pandemic,” Caramat said.

He also reminded the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. (PNA)
