MANILA – Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade on Wednesday thanked the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) for his nomination in the political party’s 2022 senatorial slate.

Despite the nomination, Tugade has yet to announce and confirm his plans to run for senator.

“Nakakataba ng puso na ako ay naisama sa listahan, kahit na ako ay bagito pa lamang sa larangan ng pulitika (My heart is full that I have been included in the list, even though I’m a rookie in politics),” Tugade said.

“Ipagpapasa-Diyos ko na lamang kung ano ang mangyayari at saan ako mapunta sa hinaharap (I will leave to God whatever happens and where I’ll be in the future).”

On Tuesday, the PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that pushes for Senator Bong Go to run for president—with President Rodrigo Duterte as his running mate—revealed its initial list of senatorial candidates for the 2022 elections.

The candidates are allies and members of Duterte’s Cabinet – Tugade, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo and House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta.
