CEBU CITY – An amusement park operator in Cebu has expressed optimism about the continued economic recovery that would also benefit recreation and theme parks amid moves to ease restrictions and allow more mobility.

Cebuano businessman Chester Lim, president of Anjo World Theme Park in southern Cebu’s Minglanilla town, said on Wednesday they fully support the thrust of the provincial government to open up Cebu to revive jobs and help businesses.

“Anjo World is one with the province standing up again so the economy will recover,” he said in an interview.

Lim, who is also president of the Philippine Retailers Association in Cebu, said they expect more foot traffic as the Christmas season approaches.

While the two-year-old theme park has since reopened to the public, he said they recognize the importance of ensuring the safety of their guests and staff, in compliance with government mandates.

“We continue to adopt the standard health and safety protocols to ensure the welfare of our guests and staff. Let us all enjoy the festivities this season brings with our family and loved ones,” he said.

Pre-pandemic, the amusement park saw its guest count hitting 15,000 daily.

Lim was optimistic the foot traffic would increase as they now operate 70 percent of their capacity, as allowed by the government.

Since it opened two years ago, Anjo World has become a new tourist draw in the southern part of Cebu. (PNA)
