BUTUAN CITY – The first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has outlined the clear direction of the administration in the next six years.

This was the reaction of Surigao del Norte First District Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II after Marcos delivered his first SONA Monday.

“President Marcos is very clear on the programs that he wants to implement to lead our country to economic growth,” Matugas said in a text message Monday evening.

The Siargao solon particularly mentioned the health programs of the President that he said would ensure the well-being of Filipinos.

“He underscored the need to strengthen the health programs of the government to ensure the well-being of the Filipinos through the building of hospitals,” Matugas said.

He added that Marcos is also keen to continue the fight against coronavirus disease-2019 through the establishment of a virology institute.

Matugas said the delivery of health services for the constituents of Siargao Island, where nine municipalities are situated, are among his priorities.

He recently filed House Bill 1033 that seeks to upgrade the four district hospitals in the island by converting the health facilities as extensions of the Siargao Island Medical Center.

The bill would expand the health service and upgrade the facilities of the four district hospitals on the island.

“Finally, the President highlighted the importance of internet, technology, and energy to fully achieve our growth potential,” Matugas said.

He rated the first SONA of Pres. Marcos as “very good.” (PNA)
