MANILA – The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to cause rains over parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

This will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley and provinces of Bataan and Zambales.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) added that flash floods or landslides are likely in these areas during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas still prevail over the entire archipelago.

PAGASA weather forecaster Grace Castañeda said no weather disturbance was seen inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

However, she said PAGASA is monitoring cloud clusters in the western section of the Ilocos Region due to the likelihood of vorticity or a whirling motion of fluid or air. (PNA)
