Azurin, Estomo visit graves of former presidents Marcos, Ramos

MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodlfo Azurin Jr., together with National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, on Friday visited the grave and pay respects to former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, simultaneous with the conduct of inspection to ensure the safety of cemeteries in relation to the upcoming observance of "Undas". 

They also visited the grave of former president Fidel V. Ramos and former generals in the uniformed service who were also laid in peace at the Libingan ng mga Bayani

The Libingan ng mga Bayani serves as a resting place for Philippine presidents, national heroes, patriots, national artists, scientists, and military officers who offered their lives for the country.

A number of visitors are expected to visit the graves of these heroes thus Azurin and Estomo opted to visit them ahead of time.

The PNP chief also inspected the international and domestic airports to ensure the safe travel of people to their respective destinations during the long weekend.

Starting Friday until November 8, 2022, the PNP has deployed troops to secure cemeteries, columbariums, and memorial parks for the observance of Undas 2022.

Estomo said a total of 11,666 personnel will be deployed in 128 cemeteries, columbaria and memorial park, 32 major thoroughfares, 133 transportation hubs/terminals, and 142 other places of convergence in Metro Manila.

Among them are 1,805 augmentation unit which includes the Philippine Coast Guard, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and 5,492 Advocacy Groups and Force Multiplier.

All cemeteries, bus terminals, churches, and other populated places throughout Metro Manila will be stationed with policemen who will guard it rain or shine. . We ensure that your NCRPO police officers see, notice, feel, and do extraordinary work for others),” said Estomo.

In order to maintain peace and order and guarantee that no one would disregard the established rules before, during and after "Undas", the deployed personnel will keep the sites under guard from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4.

"Let us commemorate our deceased loved ones, and be with them on their graves solemnly para maidaos po natin ang Undas ng maayos at payapa. Sundin lang po natin ang mga alituntuning inilatag ng ating pamahalaan upang wala po tayong maging problema. Makakaasa din po kayong buong pwersa po kaming magbabantay at magbibigay seguridad sa lahat ng sementeryo at kolumbaryo upang masiguro ang inyong kaligtasan (Let us commemorate our deceased loved ones, and be with them on their graves solemnly so that we can hold the Undas orderly and in peace. Let's just follow the rules laid down by our government so we don't have any problems.
