MANILA – A total of 28 persons were arrested during anti-illegal drugs and criminality operations in Quezon City in the past 24 hours.

In a statement on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief, said 14 drug suspects were nabbed while PHP134,640 worth of shabu was seized in a series of buy-bust operations on Wednesday.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a total of eight most wanted persons were also arrested in the city.

The arrest of these wanted persons is only shows that QCPD is aggressive in pursuing and holding accountable the criminals who try to hide from our law),” Torre said.

The courts of origin of these warrants will be notified about the arrests of these fugitives.

In a campaign against illegal gambling, six gamblers were arrested for playing “cara y cruz” while several illegal gambling paraphernalia and bet money were confiscated from the arrested suspects.

A case for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law will be filed against them.

As law enforcers and defenders of the people, your QCPD police will not hesitate to carry out many more operations to arrest all those who disrupt the peace and security of Quezon City),” Torre said.
