MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur -- Negosyo Center (NC), a flagship program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the local government, was launched here Thursday morning, making it the 921st center in the country.

DTI Assistant Secretary Blesila Lantayona, who was once the agency’s provincial director in Davao del Sur, said she was very impressed with how the province has evolved to be a business hub even in its remotest municipalities.

Lantayona said she is very optimistic that the Negosyo Center in Magsaysay will realize its ultimate goal, which is to promote ease of doing business and facilitating access to services for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

She said with the unity showed by the government officials during the launching ceremony -- from the province, municipal and barangay level and even to our small businessmen -- she is very sure that the NC will go a long way in the locality.

DTI provincial director Delia Ayano said the center is also a venue for concerns like business registration assistance, business advisory services, business information and advocacy, and monitoring and evaluation.

Mainly, the center accepts and facilitates all new registration and renewal application of MSMEs, including an application for Barangay Micro-Business Enterprise (BMBE), she added.

Governor Douglas R. Cagas said the launching of the DTI-initiated project is a welcome development in a municipality that is one of the most competitive areas in the entire province.

Mayor Arthur Davin said the center will pave the way for the improvement of small traders’ as they will be properly guided and technically-equipped on how to run their respective businesses.

The Negosyo Center is open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be manned by a DTI staff and the town’s Local Economic Investment and Promotions Officer. (Anthony S. Allada/PNA)
