MANILA -- Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte on Tuesday thanked her supporters following the latest Metro Manila mayoral survey, "Halalan 2019 NCR Survey", released by RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. where she was the top choice for Quezon City's next mayor.

The non-commissioned survey, dated March 1-10, shows that 75 percent of registered voters in Quezon City prefer Belmonte over Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo and former Rep. Ismael “Chuck” Mathay III, who were favored by only 24 percent and 1 percent of voters, respectively.

"I thank the voters who participated in the poll who placed their utmost trust and support in me. I am now more encouraged to reach out and express my platforms to the people so that they will know that all I am aiming for is the betterment of our city, the welfare of every citizen, and the programs that will uplift the lives of residents of Quezon City," Belmonte said.

She also commented on results of the survey where young candidates were favored by most of the registered voters, saying young leaders have the greater capacity to think out of the box and formulate innovative solutions for both old problems and new challenges in local government.

"I think young leaders are more open to resort to unconventional ways to solve problems, and I think that's necessary, especially since these challenges evolve very quickly. The demographic we are serving is also changing very fast, and I want to tailor-fit some of my programs to serve the younger generations, being relatively young myself. Being quick and adaptable is an edge," she said. (PNA)
