MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas on Wednesday announced the relief of a police officer from the Negros Occidental Police Office after he tested positive for drug use.

Sinas said Pat. Nicolas Martinez is now restricted to quarters while undergoing pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings within the next 60 days.

Martinez was among 54 police personnel subjected to random drug testing by the Police Regional Office 6 Crime Laboratory last March 16 and 18.

All 53 personnel yielded negative results while Martinez's screened urine specimen was confirmed to have traces of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu. (PNA)
