'Bising' to bring rains across N. Luzon Friday

MANILA – Typhoon Bising (international name Surigae) will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands, the weather bureau said Friday.

“Bising” was last seen 575 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving east northeast at 20 km. per hour.

It packs maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast Metro Manila and the rest of the country to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.

“Bising” is forecast to weaken and be downgraded into a severe tropical storm category over the weekend. (PNA)
